'Oxfordshire Landscapes' Photo Competition
Wednesday, 15 July 2009 8:39am
Following the success of the 2008 ‘Oxfordshire Wildlife Exposed’ photography competition, and to coincide with the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at Science Oxford Live this winter, the science centre is launching ‘Oxfordshire Landscapes’, a competition to find Oxfordshire’s top landscape photographers. From scenic views, to inspirational buildings, to pictures that represent what Oxfordshire means to people – Science Oxford Live wants local residents to send them photographs that highlight the variety of landscapes, both rural and urban, found across the county.
The winning photos will be shortlisted and judged by a panel of experts, including CEO of Science Oxford, Dr Ian Griffin, and local photographer John Cairns. There is a cash prize offer of £150 for the best photo, and two second prizes of £75 each – one for under 16s, and one for people aged 16 and over. Additionally, the shortlisted entries will be put on public display at Science Oxford Live during the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
Participants can enter up to three photos, which must be landscape themed (i.e. no close-up portraits of people, plants or animals), and must have been taken in Oxfordshire. Entries should be sent to photo@scienceoxford.com by 30th September 2009. Photos must be digital, and the entry should include the participants’ name, where the photo was taken, and which age category they belong to, i.e. under 16s or 16 and over. Please note that e-mails can be up to 5MB in size.
