What do your genes say about where you come from?

Our genes can tell us a lot about human history. Professor Gil McVean will explain how they can be used to tell us about how humans evolved, how they colonised different parts of the globe, and how they were shaped by local pressures from diet, disease and the environment.

This event was filmed as part of our season entitled Nature and Nurture in Autumn 2008. Are we simply slaves to our selfish genes? Do we really have free will? What are the limits of our genetic inheritance? And how would we know? Let Science Oxford guide you through the science and ethics of genetics, as we invite you to explore the ways that Nature and Nurture make us act, think and feel.
