From the struggle to get up on a Monday morning to coping with jet-lag, the body has to carefully balance our need to be alert or to be at rest. But how does the brain control this? How much sleep do we really need? And why do flamingos sleep on one leg? Join genetics researcher, Dr Peter Oliver, to find out!
Sponsored by the Medical Research Council

Suitable for 13+

More Information

Peter Oliver has worked in genetics research for 15 years and is interested in the way the genes and the environment influence sleep, particularly in human disease. The talk will cover some of the facts and myths surrounding sleep and the role of genetics in the control of circadian rhythms – if you can stay awake, of course.
